God Bless America

This will be all I say about the 2016 Election:

And I will say it here because I've already blocked/restricted/defriended the disrespectful and blatant babbling off my newsfeed. Both Trump and Clinton friends and even family.

1. The popular vote is just over 1/2 a million difference. Gary Johnson received over 4 million votes... MY VOTE DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

2. A 2 party system... 2 choices ... really America? Get your shit together.

3. Here I am above, in front of the white house and the capitol building.  I chose red on purpose. I'm thinking about going green.

Here's the kind of Republican I was/am even tho I didn't vote R for president.
I was/am the kind of republican:
  • who doesn't believe in abortion, but I would never in a million years believe that there are "abortion lovers" out there.
  • who would never vote on one issue
  • who does not live in fear
  • who believes that black lives matter and who has a staunch respect for police officers
  • who would invite refugees from any country into my home
  • who loves this planet and does my part to take care of it
  • who would photograph anyone's wedding
  • who thinks it is wonderful that a girl wearing a hijab is now a "cover girl" girl
  • who will still and always has used the bathrooms at Target
  • who believes our veterans deserve more
  • who thinks there is way too much government in our lives
  • who has some ideas and thoughts on social security overhauls and a flat tax
  • who has always referred to the current president as President Obama
  • who is extremely patriotic and stands up (sometimes even in my living room) when the National Anthem or the Hallelujah Chorus is played)
  • who cried when George and Barbara Bush walked down the stairs to leave the building
  • who has always had a great respect for President Bush W and, still to this day, believes that maybe there WERE WMD's but they somehow got moved before inspections
  • who strongly believes in government fiscal and social responsibility
  • who will always vote policy over personality
  • will call Mr. Trump ... President Trump ... and will NOT listen to anyone's disrespect of the office of president or first lady
  • will keep praying for the Obama family and will start praying for the Trump family

What does it mean when it says;
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God." Romans 13:1

Pin To Top

I thought I'd get done transfering 2003 thru 2011 from iWeb to blogger while snow birding this winter ... I also thought we'd have time to change all our home movies into digital files.
And silly me, I even believed I'd get all our slides made into jpegs.
This is what my home page looked like in the winter of 2011.
Some things never change.

The problem is, you think you have all the time in the world.

Facebook reminded me yesterday that I posted what follows these screen shots on May 4, 2011; the day "we got" Osama Bin Laden.  Five years later, I stand by the above writings and what follows ~

Good & Evil

Dear Max & Lilly,
This one is going to be extremely hard for me to explain.
When God created the first male and female ~ Adam and Eve ~ he gave them a beautiful garden to call their home.  Can you imagine that?  Your parents work really really hard to care and provide for you and it doesn’t leave much time for lollygagging around in the cool evening shade.  Yet that is all Adam and Eve had to do.  Well that, and name ALL the animals, procreate (ask your parents what that means) and not play God.
But alas, they couldn’t keep their pride in check and now we have good guys and bad guys.
Us Americans are a prideful people, and pride is a sin.  We are supposed to humble ourselves before God and others, NOT puff ourselves up.  Jesus said this, in the book of Matthew:
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemies.' But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you. If you do this, you will be true children of your Father in heaven. He causes the sun to rise on good people and on evil people, and he sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong. If you love only the people who love you, you will get no reward. Even the tax collectors do that. And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than other people. Even those who don't know God are nice to their friends. So you must be good, just as your Father in heaven is good.”
If we would only study the Bible and realize that pride comes before a fall, I’m not too sure we would be celebrating what’s gone down the last couple of days.
Every since 9.11.01 (and even as far back as the civil war) the United States has always been pretty full of themselves.  Men fighting against other men, pursuing man-made ideologies and ignoring God’s ways, all in the name of USA, USA, USA.
So late Sunday night, I was upstairs in the home where we raised your parents.  Since we live at Great Grandpa & Grandma’s farm most of the time, we’ve cut the cable cord and can only get 3 TV stations.  Max, you and your parents were downstairs ... you had long since been asleep when your mom came upstairs to tell me that the United States had captured and killed Osama Bin Laden (the bad guy - don’t worry, by the time you read this you’ll have studied this in history class).
The blogs, facebook, and nearly everyone who calls USA home, erupted in chants and celebrations.  About half the country wants to make our president the king. The other half wants to claim their president did all the groundwork and therefore he should get some of the accolades. (you’ll get to learn all about the way politics run this country in civics class, too. Lucky you.)
What would Jesus do?
I’ll tell you what he would NOT do.  He would NOT celebrate a human being, whom he created, slipping from this world into the next without accepting his gift of salvation.  He wants ALL to come to the Father.  He created us ALL, even the bad guys.  We make choices.  He did not demand that Adam and Eve love him. He gave Adam and Eve free will so they could WANT to love him.  That’s how much he loves us.
And so I can’t bring myself to cheer and promote either agenda. I am so so sad for all the people and their families who lost loved ones in the tumbling towers.  The guys that stormed the cockpit on Flight 11 will always be heros in my eyes ... in my heart, I pray they were believers.
And in a strange awkward kind of way I feel a strong sadness for the 22 men that lost their lives in Sunday nights Middle East gun battle.
Your Aunt Melissa’s boyfriend (Spencer post coming soon) said what I wanted to say on his facebook wall ~ I love justice but I won't celebrate killing people. ever. I love life and life to the full. God bless America.
And I might add to that ... God has already blessed America.  Now it is our turn to bless the world with the message of the Gospel, and that includes the bad guys.

Thanks for stopping by today ... if you need me I'll be here transferring archives, taking a couple more laps around the trailer park, and fixin' to eat Mother's Day brunch somewhere along the Gulf of Mexico.  Northbound within the week.

every damn new year i vow to keep this blog updated

words do not come as easy anymore

committments can creep in and overwhelm

but i'm gonna give it another shot

before i stick a fork in it

the 'ole college try

what does that even mean

first rule of writing

don't use cliches

i could write a book

time marches on

The pic above was to be the T-shirt
for a family reunion that wasn't.
It's now become my prayer list.
Life has definitely taken it's
twists and turns (more cliches)
for this family
and we all continue to struggle in a myriad of ways.
Lucy and Moses are not quite here yet.
 In the spring and summer
Derek & Chels and Joel & Ang
will intorduce two more.
In the fall, we'll add Katie next to Austin.
We said good-bye to Brandon, gone way too early,
leaving a gaping hole we'll try to fill with memories.
I'm sure it seems more like a bottemless pit to Megan and Emme

As with this blog, once again, I vow to renew and rekindle the relationship with my Heavenly Father.
My verse of the year will be Jeremiah 24:7 ~  "I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the LORD; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart."
How will you know?
How will I know?
At the end of the day/month/year it will be obvious
I commit to walking in the spirit.

I used to be a writer.
Please, Mr. Postman
circa 2004

The right side of her brain had already started its own dance party as Olivia pushed back from yet another office meeting.  It was Friday.

Olivia worked as an interior designer for a construction company whose forte was office buildings...drab, gray, square, cookie-cutter office buildings.  When it came time for interior furnishings, her creative choices consisted of grayscale. She struggled on a budget which eroded to 'the-cheaper-the-better' after construction upgrades.

Olivia resigned herself to biding her time. She played parking lot games, which bordered on OCD, to gear up and deprogram. Every morning, she managed to transform herself into the consummate, boring team player.

Mondays she told herself, You do not belong at this job. She repeated the phrase five times as she stomped across the cold pavement.

By Tuesday, her conversation became self-deprecating: You did it again, girl.  You let someone else take the credit for your 'outside the box' thinking... congratulations co-worker...on my next big thing. On many occasions, in the empty lobby, she spoke the words out loud.

Wednesday had a similar stanza, but it was hump day so there was a swing in her step.  You're simply the best thing that's ever happened to this place. This ditty started at her car and replayed until she flopped into her burgundy-tweed office chair with a sigh, simply the best.

Thursday's parking lot conversation was aimed at the regime.  They'll never change.  She would start her satire at the bottom stair, your-boss-is-a-mon-ster-that-pukes...she reached the landing...bor-ing-cu-bi-cles-when-he's-sick. She had a distinct rhythm and a syllable for all sixteen steel stairs.
A vision of her boss throwing up miniature gray cubicles left a smile on her face, as she pulled open the windowless office door.

But today was different.

Her company won a bid to build a Senior Living Housing Complex. Finally, a creative assignment.  It felt like receiving a brand new box of Crayolas; the Sixty-four pack with a built-in sharpener. Her excitement mounted as she imagined tiny interior homes with floor plans, cabinets and countertops.

Olivia grabbed her coat and idea notebook, beginning the selection process, in her head.   Before she reached the lobby to meet her boss, she envisioned the hardware, the carpet, and nothing painted gray.

Today they would tour an existing facility, and she played none of her usual parking lot games.

Her mood bordered on giddy, as she followed her boss to his car.

"You'll also need to design the exterior," he said.

Olivia thought her head might explode and immediately began a mental sketch.  She'd incorporate a Cape Cod/Mackinac Island feel to the structure by using colonial red brick and cedar shake.  She'd integrate patio columns, French doors, balconies, cupolas, and weather vanes.

Her boss rambled on about today's excursion while the blueprints took shape in her mind's eye.  She saw residents meandering down spacious interior hallways with cozy lanterns hanging over copper address numbers. In a common area, filled with comfortable furniture and warm window treatments, she heard elderly gentlemen exaggerating their fish stories. She imagined game rooms with jigsaw puzzles, knotty pine bookshelves and a row of Apple computers. Seniors needed easy internet access; her grandma even had a blog.

She pretended to take notes while her boss spoke of the trivial. The ideas came fast, and she could hardly keep up.  There must be a stone fireplace and a cafĂ©.

"Did you get that?" her boss asked while looking very impressed with her note taking.

She nodded and pretended to write down something about construction costs or heating and cooling units. A small retro styled theatre could be used for church services and watching the big game.  A generous dance floor was a must.

As they entered the building she began to feel it, and by the time they introduced themselves, the feeling overwhelmed her whole being.  What was going on? She felt as if she was leaving one world and entering another. Drab office buildings and paint color schemes were fading into oblivion. She felt transported to a different realm.

A lady at the grand piano introduced herself as Thelma, while plunking out a familiar hymn. Thelma was not waiting for Easter to wear her bonnet. Olivia wanted to know her favorite hymn and if she used to be a church pianist, but they were led away from the lobby.

A spacious yellow atrium housed a half dozen doughnut shaped bird feeders, waiting to be hung outside. A balding gentleman offered a friendly, "Hello." He printed 'Lloyd' in block letters on his nametag.  Olivia wanted to help him as he struggled to thread a piece of red yarn, but once again the tour moved on.

She noticed homemade signs hung at slight angles on each door. She recognized "Welcome" in German, Dutch and Spanish. A few family names still contained the "s" indicating a couple. She wished to hear romantic or even boring tales of how they met. Most banners bore a lone name, though, increasing her yearning.

Finally, they knocked on a door with a framed glass shadow box adorning the stoop.  The box held a menagerie of armed forces memorabilia and criss-crossed flags.  She longed to thank someone for their military service, but her boss interrupted and asked to see their electrical box.

The next entryway display box held family pictures and yellowed school photos.  She was mad at an unnamed generation and assumed, since the pictures hadn't been updated, the visits had stopped.

They passed a lively cafĂ© with lingering aromas and diners.  Two couples were engaged in a spirited discussion on whether their grandchildren would enjoy a Pistons game or the civic playhouse.  Olivia prayed those kids would enthusiastically accept either invitation.

In the last hallway, leading back to the main lobby, bulletin boards announced a euchre tournament. Eiffel tower stickers heralded 'Vive a la France' tonight in the dining room. Olivia wondered if any of them had ever visited Paris.

While sitting down to wait for her boss and crew to finish a boiler room discussion, it became increasingly clear. The neon sign in her heart flashed it's warning; U turn ahead! It wasn't boring construction details, or the creative design process that would be her escape route. It was the people; the older people. People placed in "senior" homes after lengthy discussions with their baby boomer children. People whose grandchildren had rummaged through their earthly possessions in order to help them scale down. People who strived their whole life to acquire--then had to decide between their dining room set and the La-Z-Boy. Maybe some of them were people, like herself, who had been trapped in a passionless career.  She ached to sit down and talk with each one of them, positive they longed to tell their sotries.

As their tour came to an end, and they opened the spacious nine-paned beveled glass lobby doors, Olivia felt a pain like she had never before experienced.

One lone man, leaning on his walker and struggling with his mailbox key, sent wave after wave of the sharpest non-physical pain ripping to the very depths of her stomach. He finally got the box open and leaned down to look into the empty abyss.

Like a bad accident, Olivia could not look away, and her heart screamed, If there is a God in heaven, please let there be some sort of personal letter in that box!
She knew there wasn't. He knew there wasn't. But he had to make sure. He reached his gnarled hand in, first part way, then one more wistful reach, a little farther, to make sure he hadn't missed something the mailman had shoved to the back.

That's when she knew: This project, lovingly dubbed 'Storybook Condos,' would be her last as an interior designer. To live her passion she must become involved with this generation.  She would gain their friendship, listen to their stories and become their voice through her writing.

As she made her way to her car that Friday afternoon, her step had a new rhythmic bounce.
There were places to go, people to meet, and stories to tell.

Repost below.

11:59pm 12-31-07
She's leaving. There's no stopping her. I don't know if I would, even if I could.

There are two of us here, even when I'm alone. We amble through the rooms and rarely speak to one another. We're alike in many ways; both selfish and sentimental.

She's taking down decorations and  packing everything in sight. I follow behind her, rummaging for my most cherished possessions. I beg her to stop and reconsider. She refuses to even ponder my request and claims there are no options.
She laughs, while things fall out of my grasp and back into the storage tub abyss.

She goes about her business--gathering her trinkets and wadding my emotions into airtight bags. I can hardly breathe. I sit. I stand. I go through the motions. My feelings are ambivalent.

Go. Get outta here. You were a nuisance, anyway.
She zips another bag.
Stay. We've yet to change the world.   Couldn't we try harder?

There's defiance in her eyes, and she speaks in abrupt audacity.

My time here is done and we both know it. You didn't, or wouldn't, learn near what I wanted to teach you. You missed opportunities that may come back to haunt you. You followed no one's rules, not even your own. You hurt feelings and played silly games. You harbored bitterness and held out little hope for your own dreams. Your faith dwindled and you didn't even care. I gave you countless chances to mend and search for answers, but you were too busy being busy.

She loads the last bag and slams the lid. She refuses to look at me anymore, as she heads for the door. Her heels click clock across the floor.  I wait for the stoic gong, but hear my own voice instead.

It's not fair. You didn't grant me an extra hour in my days.  There were times I wanted you to stop so I could linger in my selfishness. You kept moving. Whenever I demanded a slower pace, it seemed as if you picked yours up. I WANTED to be different--to change--but you had your agenda and I had to abide. I'm so fed up with you--you and your stringent timeline. Go. Good riddance. I have something you don't. I've got a new opportunity and I'll not screw up this time. I can change, you'll see. I've committed to a brand spanking new schedule and I've promised to behave. I'll relish every prospect and I'll work hard on my dreams. I'll mend my mistakes and cherish every moment. Most importantly, your leaving has given me the determination to rekindle my Main relationship.

I notice a slump in her shoulders as I finish my rant. She reaches into one of her suitcases and hands me a bag with my name on it. And then she speaks--er--whispers for the last time.
"I hope you're happy now."

For a moment, I just stand there and stare. I can't believe she is gone. Then, with new resolve, I make myself a cup of tea, curl up on the sofa and open the bag to reminisce.

Just Visiting

Sunday Morning circa 1972
Growing up, we attended church on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, and Wednesday night prayer meeting.

Instantly, some of you will know what kind of church I'm talking about.

There are self-help groups for former members of this "christian" club, but you did not hear that from this baptist.

One of my favorite things about growing up in an atmosphere such as this, was that regularly, my parents would invite folks over after Sunday night church.

Back then, one said, "We're having company."

We'd serve ham sandwiches, Jay's potato chips, colorful jello molds, with a dollop of Miracle Whip, and root beer from mugs which had been stored in the freezer. You heard me, I said  "Jay's not Lay's, and mayonnaise, not whipped cream.

Sometimes we'd play the latest card game, or revert to trusty old board games. Sometimes we'd sit and "chat" about the Sunday services. And by chat, I mean, discuss, and by discuss, I mean gossip.

We'd beg mom and dad to invite our favorite families.  "Can we please have the Wilcoxsins' or the Flecks, or the Lelle's over, please, huh, can we please?"  When the company included the church piano or organ player, or my sister or younger brother learned to play piano, we'd have a good old-fashioned hymn sing.

We'd sing, Blessed Assurance, Love Lifted Me, At The Cross, Power In The Blood, When We All Get Heaven, When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder, O For a Thousand Tongues To Sing.

One evening after the last verse of "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus"  had been sung, and the last visitor had headed home, I knelt with my parents, right there by the organ bench, and asked Jesus into my heart. I wanted my name on the list up yonder.

Oh, I could go on and on about what the word "visit" conjures up in my mind. I could also go for days about baptists, and saying the "salvation prayer" versus leading a life filled to overflowing with the holy spirit. And don't even get me started on getting to church once a week, let alone three times. But my 5 minutes are up.

I'll leave you with the words to another one of my favorite hymns.

This world is not my home I'm just a passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Oh Lord you know I have no friend like you
If heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do
The angels beckon me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore

I have a loving mother just over in Gloryland
And I don't expect to stop until I shake her hand
She's waiting now for me in heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Just over in Gloryland we'll live eternally
The saints on every hand are shouting victory
Their songs of sweetest praise drift back from heaven's shore
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Oh Lord you know...

Yesterday, Today, Forever

This morning I'd like you to turn in your Bibles to Genesis and you will find a cacophony of errant wayward, and disobedient people. Yet, overpowering all the messes is a creative symphony of grace.

Grace, grace, God's grace. Grace that is greater than all our sin.

I feel like I could preach today, and I may later on, but for now, along with 'Snowbird', this is the song that carries me through this Lord's day, January 19, 2014, and gives me hope for tomorrow.

Let's all stand together and sing all the verses,

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Spoiler Alert

I watched some of the red carpet and Tina & Amy's opener on the Golden Globes last night.  One celebrity announcer stated, "Last year I was on the couch in my pajamas with popcorn and tonight I'm on the red carpet, in the limelight, and this lovely dress ... this is the best night of my life." Really?
Today there will be a worst and best dressed list to hit the front page.
Tomorrow, no one will care anymore.

My attitude towards hollywood is way too blasé to call it a love-hate relationship. I enjoy a Tom Hanks movie and "Return To Me." I hope to see "Noah", but won't get bent outta shape if it's not verse by verse from the Bible. It's a story, and that's what I like about hollywood.

Isn't that what the Bible is, as well? A giant collection of stories from when the world began! Stories which all point to the greatest story ever told.

I can't help think of hollywood, politics, and us self-addicted americans, when I read about the Tower of Babel, in Genesis. A tower built out of pure selfishness and pride. We candy-coat it today and call it self worth or ambition, but we're still climbing and struggling to elevate our selves. Maybe that's why we would call an awards show the greatest night of our lives or why we clamor for "likes" on the pages of our lives.

God told Noah to build an ark.  He was quite specific. Seems God was pretty upset and judgement for sin was imminent.

The Lord saw that the human beings on the earth were very wicked and that everything they thought about was evil. He was sorry he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.  Genesis 6: 5&6. Whoa Noah.  Ya know, I've always thought that Noah preached to everyone during the years he was building the ark. I don't read that anywhere in Genesis. He mainly got his blueprints, along with instructions to save his family, and he obeyed.  Do you really think the ark would have been big enough if more people had repented?

Nobody is invited on the boat except Noah and his family.  God's mind was made up. A precursor to another judgement day?  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
And they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  Matthew 24: 38 & 39

As surely as I live,’says the Lord,
every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will acknowledge God Romans 14:11

I do believe our time is running short.

Right before all this ship building started God shaved about 700 years off our life-span. The Lord said, "My Spirit will not remain in human beings forever, because they are flesh. They will only live 120 years." God was and is calling all the shots.

A few posts ago I got pretty upset with so-called Christians, myself included.  All I was trying to say was this; we spend a lot of time not acting like Jesus, and so little time loving the Lord God with all our heart and minds and loving our neighbors as ourselves. We spend even less time going into all the world to preach the gospel. The gospel, not our blog posts, high horses or soap boxes. The plain and simple gospel ~

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
 Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right
with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved...
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Romans 10:9, 10, & 13
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
Romans 5:1
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1

The flood demonstrates God's wrath toward sin but also His mercy to those who follow after him.
Faith and the foreshadowing of God's grace run rampant through Genesis, right alongside the people and their obsession with sin.  Even Noah fell hard probably before the boat and most definitely after.

Thankfully, God was full of mercy and made an agreement, along with a rainbow reminder, that he would not destroy us again.

If He hadn't, we wouldn't be here making movies about Noah.

Oh Holy Light

Silent night.

Literally.

Having had the family here for the week-end before, we're rattling around in this big old farmhouse while echoes and memories bounce like pinballs off the walls and our hearts.

Christmas morning has it's very own aura. I envision shopper less stores and city sidewalks still dressed in holiday style, but not quite as bustly. I'm sure there is a Disney parade at some point today, but they're passing the September taped announcers off as if it's live.

The world pauses. The breath of heaven causes stirring in our hearts. People question if it all could be true and the movies and songs make us want to believe.

As I reminisce about another year gone by (today I will start the YIR video) warmed by the fireplace and space heater, my mind's eye recalls; outdoor decorations that dotted the landscape on the way to Illinois ~ Christmas prayers prayed by Grandpa Bauer in fast motion ~ bringing home a real tree from the lit lot, bubble lights, tinsel slung, a star on the grain bin leg (same star pictured), my first bible, ice skates, a remote control race car track, madame alexander dolls, the whole family in Marshall Fields toy department, snowmobiling, family and food everywhere, "Christmas Story" marathons, and memorized renditions of "Twas The Night Before Christmas" and Luke 2.

The meaningful lights linger. One more day.  I took most of these pictures last night, because we all know Christmas Eve is much more magical than Christmas night. But after conjuring up my Christmas past, and quietly bemoaning how I'll feel about the decorations tomorrow morning, I wondered how the world felt the morning after the manger.

Some, surely continued on without a hint of what the first Christmas could possibly hold. And yet there were those who believed; a handful of shepherds and wisemen. Mary and Joseph. Maybe the innkeeper. Those who could not ignore that bright star in the east and then the heavenly hosts in the skies over Bethlehem.  I wonder if the news travelled via the front desk of the inn? Or what the reaction was on streets the next morning?

What do you think about this greatest story ever told? Do you truly understand the implications of the  miracle of Christmas?  Why has this event in history, a story which happened thousands of years ago, remained to this day in 2013?

Today the light shines on the Christmas story. A candle next to the manger scene. Miles and miles of light strands decorate our yards and homes. The light always dispels the darkness. The street lights will come on again this evening. I'll keep the star lit.  The candles will turn on at dusk, but shine their brightest in the dark of night. When the light comes in the dark must flee. In the room, on the street, and in our hearts.

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of the darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.  2 Corinthians 4:6
